Police investigating bank robbery at Ventura Chase Bank

The Ventura Police Department is investigating a bank robbery that occurred at the Chase Bank located at 2499 Harbor Boulevard Friday morning.

Shortly after 11 a.m., police received a 911 call from an employee at Chase Bank. Unfortunately, by the time officers arrived at the scene, the suspect had already left on foot.

Investigators say the suspect entered the bank and approached the counter. He handed the clerk a note saying he was robbing the bank and demanded money. The note claimed he was armed with a gun even though no weapon was ever seen, police say.

The suspect ran away after receiving an undisclosed amount of money from the bank clerk. No one was injured in the robbery. The FBI was notified about this crime.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 20-30 years old, shaved head, wearing a black hat, sunglasses, light blue button shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes.

Police released a couple of surveillance camera photos hoping the community can recognize the man in the pictures.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ventura Police Department at 805-339-4488.
