Missing UCSB student found dead in Cold Springs Canyon

A missing UC Santa Barbara student was found dead in Cold Springs Canyon, Santa Barbara County Tuesday afternoon.

Annie Lynn Wang, a UCSB student from San Diego, was last seen by her roommates around 3 a.m. Friday studying in Manzanita Village dormitory.

A missing person report was filed for Wang around 9:40 a.m. Monday morning.

Information obtained during the missing investigation revealed that she could be in the Cold Springs Bridge area according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

A Sheriff Search and Rescue team searched the area around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and located Wang dead in the Cold Springs Canyon.

Wang’s death is the result of an apparent suicide, investigators say. Her family has been notified.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses and other bereavement costs.
