Tourists pack into Pismo Beach for holiday weekend
It’s the perfect piece of paradise for visitors from both near and far.
“We like the relative quiet compared to Santa Barbara, it’s got a more hometown feel to it, we like the expansive beach, we like the friendliness of the people, we just like the whole environment,” explained Cynthia Hamilton who was visiting from Summerland.
“It’s really quaint and really pretty and I love the feel about it,” said Eliza Hebdon, a first time Pismo Beach visitor from Utah.
For some of these Downtown Pismo Beach businesses, they say this type of traffic helps them stay afloat the rest of the year.
“We have extra staff going, we have a person stocking and we have two people on the register. It’s been a very busy week – it’s just like summer time,” said Pier Gifts retail clerk, Kristy Carbo.
“We tend to make enough to go through all the slow seasons and then once summer hits, it picks up again and we can make a lot more again then,” explained Brianna Felice, Manager of Pismo Yogurt.
The new hotel “The Inn at the Pier” tells us they are at 100 percent capacity Friday, so definitely expect to see a lot of people if you plan on heading up here this weekend.
