Lompoc man accused of breaking into home and kidnapping ex-girlfriend
Epifanio Perez, 24, of Lompoc faces criminal charges including kidnapping after police say he broke into a home and forcefully took his ex-girlfriend early Friday morning.
Police were called out to the Lompoc home at 3:55 a.m. and officers quickly found the victim’s cell phone inside the home. As officers were investigating, the victim called her phone and told police she was fine, but officers said they could hear a man’s voice in the background. They told the victim to come back home so they could be sure she was safe.
A short time later, the victim returned to her home, frantic, according to Lompoc police. She told officers that she had been dropped off a few blocks away.
Police found the Perez’s car in the 500 block of the N and M Street alley. During that time, authorities say Perez showed up at the victim’s home where he was immediately taken into police custody.
Perez was apparently living at the home with the victim and another person, according to authorities. The witness that called 911 told officers that Perez and the victim had recently ended their relationship and Perez was kicked out of the home the day before.
Police say Perez destroyed a rear window of the home to gain entry.
Perez was booked in jail for kidnapping, burglary, criminal threats, and domestic violence charges. His bail was set at $100,000 dollars.
