Victim, suspect in Lompoc homicide, officer-involved shooting investigation identified

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office has identified the victim in Sunday’s Lompoc homicide as 28-year-old Timothy Ross Culley, a resident of Lompoc.
The murder suspect was identified as 34-year-old Lompoc resident Geronimo Vicente Santos. Authorities say he had several aliases but had been living the past several years under the false identity of Carlos Aguirrez-Justo, 32.
Santos died from injuries he suffered during a confrontation with Lompoc police which resulted in an officer-involved shooting being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and the Lompoc Police Department are investigating a homicide and an officer-involved shooting that took place in Lompoc.
At around 6 a.m. Sunday, Lompoc police officers responded to a Lompoc riverbed for a report of a homicide. Officers located the homicide victim and began interviewing witnesses for a possible suspect.
Officers issued a ‘Be On the Lookout’ for the suspect, and he was located about an hour later in the area of A Street and Pine Avenue.
Police arrived at the scene and located the 34-year-old male suspect who allegedly began firing at the officers after refusing to comply with their orders. Police returned fire and struck the suspect multiple times. Once police determined the scene was safe, they administered first aid to the suspect and called for an ambulance.
The suspect was transported to Lompoc Valley Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
There are currently two ongoing investigations: The Lompoc Police Department is investigating the homicide in the riverbed and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
Neither the suspect’s name, officers involved, or the victim’s identity have been released at this time. Authorities say the suspect was a Lompoc resident. His firearm was recovered at the scene of the shooting.
