Ventura woman celebrates her 94th birthday by skydiving for the first time

When Winnie Lester saw images of George Bush Sr. skydiving on his birthday, she realized she wanted to do that, too.

The 94-year-old made her first jump before blowing out the candles on her birthday cake.

The resident of Cypress Place Senior Living in Ventura made a tandem jump with Leon Roullard at Skydive Coastal at the Camarillo Airport on Friday, Nov. 10.

Cypress Place has a Livin’ the Dream program that teamed up with Lester’s granddaughter to make it happen.

Cypress Place community marketing director Mike Macke shared the video and asked her about her jump.

Macke said she is feeling very humbled by all of the attention she has received.

She said she didn’t expect it.
