Oxnard police arrest suspect in deadly shooting
The Oxnard Police Department has made an arrest in connection to a homicide that occurred Wednesday evening in Oxnard.
Jonathan Zambrano, 27, of Oxnard was arrested Saturday morning in connection to the death of 24-year-old Albert Salazar.
Salazar’s body was found in the parking lot at the Oxnard Police Department Wednesday night. Police say Salazar was shot on the 1300 block of West Guava Street before he was transported and left at the station.
Officers administered first aid until paramedics arrived. Salazar was transported to Ventura County Medical Center where he later died.
Detectives took over the investigation and eventually identified Jonathan Zambrano as a suspect.
Detectives obtained enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant for Zamabrano two days after the murder.
On Saturday, detectives observed Zambrano in a vehicle near Third Street and A Street in Oxnard. Officers made contact with Zambrano and the female driver of the vehicle and both were taken into custody without incident.
Zambrano was arrested for the murder of Albert Salazar and transported to the Ventura County Main Jail.
Zambrano is currently on parole and is ineligible for bail.
The female driver was also arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
