Chalk Fire chars hillside on Atascadero Golf Course
Fire broke out on a hillside on the Chalk Mountain Golf Course Saturday afternoon, quickly spreading along a grassy slope.
The area was closed off during an aggressive fire fight by ground and air crews at the El Bordo Avenue course in Atascadero.
By late afternoon, water-dropping helicopters stopped the flames at 18 acres.
The greens were not damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
