$7 million US Highway 101 safety project completed

A $7 million-dollar safety project to realign the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 101 from north of Mariposa Reina to south of the Gaviota rest stop, has been completed.

The project contracted by Souza Construction of San Luis Obispo, resulted in the realignment of the existing northbound compound curve with a single radius curve according to Jim Shivers, Caltrans District 5 Spokesperson.

“This new alignment will allow motorists to drive their vehicles more easily through this single curve, improving safety for everyone’, said Caltrans District 5 Director Tim Gubbins.”

Caltrans sends a reminder to motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
