Resist and Persist march held in Ventura

Activists in Ventura named their rally “Resist and Persist,” on Saturday.

Their choice of the word “persist” became a nationwide rally cry when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said, “Nevertheless, she persisted,” as he tried to silence Senator Elizabeth during Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ confirmation hearing.

Sunday’s rally in Ventura took place in front of the Ventura County Government Center.

J. Anthony Hamilton who chairs the Justice for All LGBTQ task force said the positive responses outweighed the negative ones.

“I was so happy to see the number of people in the Ventura area thar came out to suport the LGBTQ community and help us to raise the visibility of our community. It was encouraging also to receive the acknowledgement by the cars passing by. I think there was only 5 instances of negative responses,” said Hamilton.

Justice for All co-founder Catherine Pulisic held a rainbow colored resist and persist LGBTQ sign along Victoria Avenue.

“We are here in Ventura at the Resist and Persist march to make sure we are supporting equality for all.,” said Pulisic.

She said she wanted make sure the community could feel the love.
