Bulldogs win historic CIF softball championship

Buena High School won the CIF-SS division 4 softball championship in style.

Brooke Yanez fired a no-hitter as the Bulldogs became the first Ventura County softball team to win a CIF title with an undefeated record.

The Bulldogs shutout Channel League foe San Marcos 5-0 to capture their first CIF crown since 1989. Buena is now 2-2 in CIF title games.

Buena scored all five of their runs in the sixth inning.

The Bulldogs finish their historic season 27-0-1.

It was the fourth time that they had beaten the Royals this season.

San Marcos was making their first ever CIF title game appearance in softball and finish their program-best season at 23-8.
