Ventura police searching for hit-and-run suspect

Police are looking for the driver of a crash that left one of his passengers in critical condition.

It happened on May 16, 2017, at 8 p.m. on Wells Road and Del Norte Street. Police said the suspect, Salvador Jimenez III, 21, of Ventura was driving with two passengers when he left the roadway and slammed into a telephone pole.

One of the victims in the crash was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered a significant injury. That victim was taken by ambulance to the Ventura County Medical Center and underwent surgery. No word on their condition.

Jimenez fled the scene before officers arrived. Officers said the searched the area and the driver’s last known address, but could not locate him.
