Mason Street Bridge in Santa Barbara opens to public

Santa Barbara residents can now use the new Mason Street Bridge to get from Chapala Street to State Street.

The bridge opened this past week. The project replaced the 50-year-old Mason Bridge that was deemed structurally deficient by the California Department of Transportation.

The design of the bridge increases Mason Creek’s flood capacity and increases habitat for the steelhead trout and tidewater goby.

Ongoing construction on lower state street includes the Entrada Hotel project and the Cabrillo Bridge project.

You can find details about all active bridge projects on the City of Santa Barbara’s website.
