Oxnard woman fighting for her life after hit-and-run crash

Oxnard police are investigating a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian fighting for her life Thursday afternoon.

Police say the driver in a white 2016 Dodge Challenger was traveling westbound on Wooley Road through the intersection of Commercial Avenue at about 4:16 p.m. when he was hit by a driver in a dark sedan trying to make a left turn from eastbound Wooley Road to northbound Commercial Avenue.

The impact of the crash caused the driver of the white Dodge to lose control and collided with a 21-year-old woman who was walking on the north sidewalk of Wooley Road.

The pedestrian was taken to Ventura County Medical Center with serious injuries. She is listed in critical condition.

Investigators say the driver of the white Dodge is cooperating with authorities in the investigation. However, the driver of the dark sedan fled the scene after the crash.

It’s unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in this collision.

The Oxnard Police Department is urging anyone with information about this crash to contact Senior Officer Maria Pena at 805-385-7750 or via email at maria.pena@oxnardpd.org.
