Possible stolen car pursuit ends in Ventura

A suspect is in custody after a pursuit through Ventura County Wednesday afternoon.

Ventura Police, California Highway Patrol and Ventura County Sheriff were following a white Mercedes Sprinter van that may have been stolen.

The chase started in Los Angeles County.

CHP officials said the driver sped through a red light on Mills and fled on foot after he dumped the van. Ventura Police arrested the driver near Saint Bonaventure High School located on the 3100 block of Telegraph Road.

The van was seen on a Los Angeles TV news helicopter driving through the parking lot at Ventura College. Ventura Police officers laid a spike strip at the parking lot exit. The van hit the strip but still was able to keep driving for a short period.

When officials release more information, it will be added here.
