Kite festival draws large crowds in Santa Barbara

Colorful kites filled the sky above Santa Barbara City College Sunday afternoon.

Children and adults flew kites of all shapes and sizes.

The annual Kite Festival regularly draws visitors from across the state and beyond.

Stephanie Martinez was visiting family from West Covina and said it was a perfect day to fly a kite.

“We looked it up online and we were like, ‘Hey, that’s a cool activity for the kids,’ and it’s been so perfect,” Martinez said. “Who could ask for better weather here in Santa Barbara?”

April is officially “Kite Month” in Santa Barbara.

The festival has been recognized by the city for its annual contributions to the community and family fun.
