Identity theft suspect arrested in Ventura, additional victims sought

A Ventura woman was arrested Thursday morning in connection to a fraud and identity theft investigation in Ventura County.

At around 10:00 a.m. Oxnard police officers served a search warrant at the residence of Tamara Lynn Hill in Ventura.

The warrant was obtained as part of an investigation related to fraud and identity theft accusations leveled against Hill by an Oxnard woman. The woman alleged that Hill used her identity to lease an apartment in Oxnard in March, 2016.

Investigators also learned that Hill used the victim’s information to fraudulently receive benefits from the State of California in excess of $10,000.

Hill was already facing several unrelated criminal charges for fraud and identity theft in Ventura County Superior Court.

During the search officers found evidence of many additional victims of identity theft and mail theft.

Detectives are requesting that anyone who believes that Hill may have used their identity for fraudulent purposes contact (805) 385-7661.

Evidence of illegal drug sales was also discovered during the search and Hill was later arrested in connection to drug sales.

Hill is currently in custody with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
