Santa Paula man arrested after allegedly injuring police officer

A Santa Paula man is behind bars for resisting arrest, and injuring an officer Monday morning, according to police.

Ventura police say they received a call at about 7:17 a.m. from a resident in the 2500 block of Waxwing Avenue to report a car was blocking their driveway and the driver was acting “as if he was under the influence of drugs.”

When they arrived on scene, police say they found Nick Wilson, 33, of Santa Paula, passed out in the driver’s seat. When officers woke him up, Wilson allegedly tried to start his car and drive off.

Officers tried removing Wilson from the car but he allegedly began punching them, hitting two officers. One officer received minor injuries, police said.

The Ventura Police Department says Wilson began reaching for the area of the center console and glove compartment, which prompted officers to fire their tasers. This allowed officers to remove Wilson from the car but they say he continued to fight with officers.

Two loaded guns were discovered inside the glove compartment during a search of the car, according to police. The police department added that the vehicle Wilson was driving had stolen license plates.

Wilson was taken to Ventura County Medical Center for minor injuries, and once medically cleared, was booked at Ventura County Jail for:
