Dozens displaced by residential fire in Port Hueneme

An early morning fire at an apartment building in Port Hueneme displaced dozens of residents Saturday morning.

The fire broke out at around 2:30 a.m. on the 400 block of East Clara Street in Port Hueneme.

Three fire agencies responded to the blaze including Oxnard City Fire Department and Ventura County Fire Station 53/Port Hueneme Fire.

The blaze sparked in an apartment and spread to a second apartment. Neighboring apartments were evacuated due to smoke damage.

40 to 50 residents were forced to leave their homes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
