New ‘Love My Neighbor’ signs popping up in Santa Barbara

During a time of tensions over immigration, deportation and close residents not always trusting each other, comes a new sign.

It says, “No matter where you are from, we are glad you’re our neighbor.” The signs have three sections. One in Spanish. One in English and one in Arabic.

The idea originated at a church in Virginia and it’s getting attention across the country.

Recently some of the signs showed up in Santa Barbara. We were not able to find a location where they were distributed locally but they can be purchased on line.

One resident said he felt it worked near his Olive street home where there is a diverse mix of residents.

“I was happy to see it and wanted to know where I could get one. I was hoping to see them pop up on other people’s lawns,” said Drew Holwerda. Some of the pictures of the signs in Santa Barbara also brought in generally very positive messages on Social media sites and requests to have a place for the signs to be sold or distributed here.
