VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. – Police responded to multiple 911 calls around midnight on Saturday. Several residents in the 9100 block of Neath Street reported a man and woman fighting in the street, with the man—a 26-year-old from Ventura—allegedly holding a gun and firing shots.
When officers arrived, they took the man into custody without incident.
During the investigation, police said they learned that the man and his girlfriend had been physically fighting. He allegedly armed himself with a gun and struck the victim in the head several times.
Although the loaded gun was found in the front yard, police confirmed that no shots were actually fired.
The victim sustained moderate injuries.
The 26-year-old was arrested and booked on charges of domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon.
However, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office ultimately did not file charges in the case.
