Stabbing suspect arrested in Oxnard

The Oxnard Police Department arrested a man in connection to a stabbing that occurred in Oxnard on Friday.

At around 10:15 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a report of stabbing victim on the 1600 block of Pacific Avenue. Officers located a 22-year-old Oxnard resident with a stab wound to the back.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and was in stable condition. The suspect was described as a man with a shaved head.

At around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, a witness to the stabbing located the suspect in the area of Channel Islands Boulevard and Statham Boulevard. Officers arrived on scene and arrested the suspect.

The suspect has been identified as Freddie Castro, 36, of Oxnard. Castro is a post release offender and a convicted felon.

Castro was arrested in connection to the stabbing and could face charges for assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently being held at the Ventura County jail on $30,000 bail.
