Water main break leads to sinkhole on SLO city street

San Luis Obispo city officials are asking motorists to avoid the 1200 block of Fredricks Street due to a large sinkhole in the middle of the street.

The sinkhole was created after a water main break below the street surface Friday afternoon.

The San Luis Obispo Utilities Department tweeted that water distribution crews are working on repairing the main break, but it’s unclear how long it will take to repair the sinkhole.

No injuries were reported in this incident. No further details were immediately available.
