15-year-old Santa Paula boy accused of stabbing younger boy

Authorities arrested a 15-year-old boy after they say he stabbed a 14-year-old boy Wednesday afternoon in Santa Paula.

At around 2:20 p.m., Santa Paula Police Department officers responded to the area of Olive Street and Santa Paula Street for a report of a stabbing victim.

Officers searched the immediate area but were unable to locate any injured subjects. As officers expanded their search, they located a 14-year-old male juvenile from Santa Paula who had collapsed in front of a residence in the 200 block of West Santa Paula Street.

The boy had multiple stab wounds to his chest and right arm. He was transported to Ventura County Medical Center, where he is currently recovering after undergoing surgery.

The suspect was last seen fleeing the scene on foot.

Investigators determined that the incident occurred on the 600 block of East Santa Paula Street. Witnesses identified the suspect as a 15-year-old male juvenile from Santa Paula.

On Thursday morning, officers and SWAT personnel served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence on the 600 block of Sycamore street.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and taken to a juvenile detention center.

The boy could face charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He was also detained on an outstanding misdemeanor no bail warrant for battery on a school official.
