Page Youth Center raising money to fix growing sink hole.

Two weeks ago, people driving through the Page Youth Center off Hollister noticed a small sinkhole forming. The hole is now growing bigger and faster causing concerns.

When Bob Yost, Page Youth Center Executive Director, first noticed the sinkhole it was only 3 feet.

“Now it’s gown 6 feet and has the potential of getting up to the 12 foot range if things continue to collapse as the earth dries up,” said Yost.

The sink hole is right in the center of the facility with Hospital Creek running right beneath it.

The Page Youth Center receives nearly 100 people using the facilities daily making the construction not only an inconvenience, but also dangerous.

“We have fenced it off and actually expanded it twice because of looky loo’s and people running around to see how deep the hole is, and it’s not safe. It’s crumbling,” said Yost.

Yost is currently getting getting estimates to repair the road way, but know it’s going to be pricey.

They are looking for the communities help in clearing things up once again.

“We are going to start a fundraising campaign with little league and Goleta south little league and reach out to those families to see if we can get some support,” said Yost.
