Armed robbers hit Goleta convenience store overnight
A Goleta convenience store was robbed early Tuesday morning and officials are searching for two suspects.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s office says two men entered the 7-Eleven located in the 7300 block of Calle Real around 12:30 a.m. and demanded money. One of the men was armed with a pistol, according to authorities.
“One male reportedly pointed a pistol at the cashier while the other carried a bag to collect the money from the cash register. After they received the cash, they fled the scene on foot,” said the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office in a statement.
The robbers got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Sheriff’s deputies, K-9 units and helicopter support spent hours searching the area, but the suspects where not located.
Authorities described the two men as Hispanic. The armed suspect was approximately 6 feet tall, heavyset, and was wearing a light grey sweater and black shorts.
The second suspect was approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build and was wearing all black clothing and a blue mask.
“Detectives believe the armed suspect may also be responsible for robbing a 7-Eleven located in the 5800 block of Hollister Avenue in Old Town Goleta at approximately 3:15 a.m. on February 19, 2017,” said the Sheriff’s Office.
There were no injuries reported during this morning’s robbery.
