Simi Valley residents arrested after brief pursuit in Ventura

Ventura police arrested two Simi Valley residents Monday morning after a brief foot pursuit in a Ventura neighborhood.

At about 8:45 a.m., a Ventura resident called police to report a suspicious car in his neighborhood. Officers soon learned the car had been reported stolen out of Oxnard.

When officers located to stop the suspect car, the driver of the vehicle turned down a dead and road, and two suspects fled on foot after the vehicle came to a stop.

The Ventura Police Department says 19-year-old Sebastian Shannon was the driver of that car. They say Shannon jumped several fences and was taken into custody north of Foothill Road. Shannon allegedly had a loaded handgun in his waistband.

The second suspect, a 16-year-old teenage boy was tracked down by a Ventura Police K-9 unit. He was was arrested in someone’s backyard, and was allegedly in possession of stolen property. Ventura police say during the arrest of the teen, one officer was injured.

The police department says Shannon had an outstanding felony warrant for stealing cars and property. Stolen items from several residential burglaries in Simi Valley were discovered inside the stolen vehicle, according to investigators.

Shannon was booked into Ventura County Jail for possession of a stolen car and property, possession of a loaded handgun, and resisting arrest.

The teen was taken to juvenile hall for possession of stolen property and resisting arrest resulting in an officer’s injury.

Foothill Technology High School was locked down temporarily during the incident.
