Stolen vehicle recovered after pursuit in Ventura

A stolen vehicle was recovered after police engaged in a high speed pursuit through the streets of Ventura late Wednesday night.

At around 11:20 p.m., a Ventura police officer observed a suspicious vehicle driving on Victoria Avenue at a high rate of speed.

The officer made a traffic stop in the area of Victoria Avenue and Woodland Street. When the officer approached the vehicle to talk to the driver, the vehicle sped away and turned onto Telegraph Road.

A high speed pursuit began and the officer followed the vehicle until it crashed into a pair of fences at the end of Aurora Drive.

The occupants of the vehicle fled on foot into the area of Camino Real Park. Ventura Police Department personnel and K-9 units searched the area and located and detained two people believed to be related to the incident.

During their investigation, officers learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Although the chase involved high speeds and ended with a crash, no injuries were reported.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Ventura Police Department at (805) 339-44325.
