Santa Barbara Volkswagen auctions remaining items as part of closure

Santa Barbara Volkswagen is holding an auction to clear the lot at 630 Chapala Street of its final items.

After 58 years, the dealership announced last month that it would be closing and no new owner would be taking over at this time.

Other details were not released. Employees had their final day at work last week. They were selling vehicles and servicing VW’s until the last minute.

Customers looking for a Volkswagen dealership will now have to go to Santa Maria or Ventura.

According to signs on the dealership window, the public auction this morning involved office furniture, and service bay equipment including tire changers, jack stands, hoists, shelving, hoists and oil tanks.

The site is being leased by Radius commercial real estate.
