Mission Creek project damaged by recent storm

Storm damage along Mission Creek includes the original creek wall that gave way on Friday next to a bypass construction project.

Jim Lash of Lash Construction referred questions to Santa Barbara Flood Control staff who could not be reached on President’s Day.

But he said his company was hired to build a bypass system to prevent flooding during peak flow.

That project, now in it second phase, began in the fall and was supposed to be completed next month.

When the project is completed it will connect to a spillway.

No one was working on Friday and no one was hurt.
