All camping at Oceano Dunes cancelled due to upcoming storms

The California Department of Parks and Recreation announced on Wednesday that the Oceano Dunes District has canceled all reservations for camping at the popular Oceano Dunes.

The closure is in effect until February 20 due to recent storm activity, hazardous Arroyo Grande Creek conditions and anticipated storms of the President’s Day holiday weekend.

Day use access to Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA) and Pismo State Beach will be closed Friday and Saturday due to the upcoming storms.

The Oso Flaco Lake Natura area at the SVRA is closed until further noticed. Officials note that recent storm activity caused significant damage to the causeway, closing safe access to the bridge and trails.

The North Beach Campground at Pismo State Beach also continues to be closed due to flooding from the recent storms, according to the Oceano Dunes District.

El Capitan State Beach in Santa Barbara County is also closing its campgrounds from Thursday to Sunday anticipating unsafe conditions and damage that could occur during this week’s series of storms.
