Dredging operation underway in Morro Bay
The harbor bottom of Morro Bay is getting a good cleaning thanks to a dredging operation taking place in the bay.
Crews remove mud, weed and trash from the harbor floor using a scooping tool called a dredge.
The operation is set to pump around 400 cubic yards of sand every hour out of the navigational channel.
A dredge pipeline reaches from Coleman Beach down to State Parks Property on Morro Strand State Beach.
Crews are working around the clock with the Army Corps of Engineers utilizing federal funding.
No word yet on when the process will be completed.
