Lopez Lake opens to boaters

Lopez Lake is now 34 percent full and open to boaters for the first time since August.

Boaters were out in full force during the first weekend of boating in 2017. Before a series of storms dropped inches of rain on the Central Coast, the lake was as low as 18 percent full.

“I think this is going to be a great summer on the lake,” said Jacob Laurenzano, who works at the Lopez Marina.

“People are coming in to buy bait, go fishing, take their boats out.”
