Local residents write postcards to politicians

As people across the country spilled onto the streets to protest the immigration ban, local residents picked up pens and wrote postcards.

The event is for the first action of the10 Actions for the First 100 Days campaign modeled after the Women’s March.

Organizer Shannon Krahn hosted the event at Santa Barbara Wine Therapy in downtown Santa Barbara.

People filled tables and bar seats to write postcards to U.S. Senators Kamala Harris and Dianne Feinstein.

Krahn said she encouraged people to write to politicians on both sides of the aisle to express concerns about issues important to them.

Krahn purchased 500 postcards for the event. More than half were filled out in the first hour.

The postcards will be mailed out on Monday.
