Tiny tots in need of toys for the holiday
The Santa Maria branch of Toys 4 Tots says they are far short of reaching their goal of providing presents for more than 800 children this holiday season.
“We’re working with what we have, but I feel as though we are running out of time,” says Maggie Suarez, as she bags Christmas presents at the armory in Santa Maria. “I wouldn’t like the feeling of not being able to give something to my children.”
Suarez and the other Toys 4 Tots volunteers say they hope the community can rally together to donate more gifts for children ages 2-12.
“If you look around, every pile is pretty short.”
Our local branch is in dire need of presents for all those ages, but particularly for girls 6-12.
“We’re working hard to try and make sure each present is worth it, and that each child will be excited when they open up that bag.”
Donations can be dropped off at centers across the area, including Macy’s and Toys R’ Us.
Gifts can also be dropped off at the armory. It is located in front of gate 7 at the Santa Maria Fairpark.
