Alcohol possibly involved in fatal San Luis Obispo County crash

A man died after his car lost control Thursday night in San Luis Obispo County.

California Highway Patrol said around 7:43 p.m., 66-year-old Thomas Eugene Ince of Avenal, California was driving fast on Highway 41, north of Highway 46 and the Cholame “Y”.

Officials said when Ince lost control, the car hit a sign then went down an embankment and landed on its side. There was no one else inside the car. Ince had major injuries due to blunt force trauma.

He was transported to Twin Cities Hospital in Templeton where he was pronounced dead.

CHP said Ince was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol is a factor in this crash. CHP is investigating the cause of the incident.
