Santa Barbara County FoodBank in need of 700 more turkeys
This is the busiest time of the year for the Santa Barbara County FoodBank.
Just last week alone, the county’s food bank donated 200,000 pounds of food – but that’s nothing compared to the 10 million pounds they donate in total each year.
“There’s a big need in Santa Barbara County, especially this time of year as work slows down in the fields it increases even more; [It’s] a lot of work but it’s really gratifying and satisfying to know that we’re helping people in the community,” explains Steve Hoxie, Warehouse Manager of the Santa Maria branch of the Santa Barbara County FoodBank.
The Santa Maria foodbank location will be accepting last minute turkeys from 7-10 a.m. Tuesday morning, so they can have as many delivered by Thanksgiving day as possible.
