Ventura Police Department investigating shooting
Ventura Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting in Ventura that sent one man to the hospital.
At around 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Ventura police received multiple 911 calls regarding a shooting on the 1500 block of South Saticoy Avenue. Some callers reported an injured man lying on the ground near a playground.
Officers responded to the scene and located a 30-year-old man who was shot several times in the upper torso.
The man was transported to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment. The severity of his injuries is unclear.
Additional officers responded and searched the area but were unable to locate any possible suspects.
Bystanders at the scene said they heard a vehicle leave the area northbound on Saticoy Avenue at a high rate of speed.
VPD detectives and CSI personnel were called out to assist with the investigation and to process the crime scene.
The incident is being investigated as an attempted homicide. The investigation is ongoing.
