Law enforcement engaged in standoff with domestic violence suspect in Nipomo

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department is currently at the scene of a standoff at the Galaxy Mobile Home Park in Nipomo.

At around 2 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a call of a domestic dispute involving a couple in a residence on the 1200 block of Mercury Court.

When deputies arrived on scene they discovered a woman with unspecified injuries. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The male suspect barricaded himself in the residence and refused to leave. The suspect is the only person in the residence.

The suspect was communicating with deputies and allegedly made threats against law enforcement.

Neighbors in the area were told to remain inside their homes as negotiators attempted to get the man to leave the residence.

SLO sheriff’s have a SWAT team deployed on the scene while authorities attempt to attain a search warrant for the home.

Even though the man made threats against law enforcement, San Luis Obispo County Sheriffs’ Department does not believe the man is armed.

This incident is ongoing and we will have more updates as we learn more.
