Buckets are part of a Three Pickle perk in Santa Barbara

The Three Pickles Deli in Santa Barbara is helping its customers deal with the sixth year of drought. Starting Thursday free empty five gallon buckets will be given out to each customer who orders a sandwich or salad.

The buckets, once filled with a variety of pickles for the restaurant, have filled a storage area. The customers will get the perk with a meal purchase until they are gone.

The offer is only available at the downtown location, 126 East Canon Perdido Street.

Owners Bob and Clay Lovejoy are hoping those who receive the buckets collect shower water and use that water for plants or other landscaping needs.

Three Pickles Deli specializes in custom submarine sandwiches, deli stacks, house specialties, salads and catering.
