Suspect arrested for fatal stabbing in Ventura

Ventura Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect believed to be connected to the stabbing homicide of a 25-year-old man in Ventura in August.

Marco Antonio Vences, 24, of Ventura was arrested in Albuquerque, New Mexico Wednesday at around 5:30 p.m.

Vences was located by the FBI Safe Streets Taskforce with assistance from the Albuquerque Police Department. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Bernalillo County Metro Detention Center in Albuquerque.

Vences will be transported back to California where he could face a possible charge for murder.

The Ventura Police Dept. received a call about someone in laying in an alley behind the 6300 block of Whippoorwill Street at 11:34 p.m. Saturday night.

Upon arriving on scene with Ventura City Fire and AMR, first responders discovered the person was suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Paramedics pronounced the suspect, later identified by police as a 25-year-old man, dead at the scene.

The Ventura Police Dept. does not have any more information, and they are asking for the public’s help.
