Lakers Begin Training Camp at UC Santa Barbara

For the first time in over 20 years, the Los Angeles Lakers began training camp without Kobe Bryant. The superstar retired and now it’s a new era for the Lakers.

LA opened up training camp at UC Santa Barbara with plenty of optimism as they feel like they will improve on a franchise-worst 17-65 record last year.

Luke Walton is back with the team but this time as the head coach and former UCSB Gauchos great Brian Shaw is also back with the Lakers as he is the associate head coach.

The Lakers are excited about a core group of young players including D’Angelo Russell, Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr and rookie Brandon Ingram from Duke.

This is the first Lakers camp in Santa Barbara since 1999 and they will train all week long at Rob Gym. The camp is closed to the public.
