Barricaded suspect surrenders to Santa Maria Police

People lined the streets in a Santa Maria neighborhood to watch as police pleaded with a man inside a house. This occurred at the intersection of College Drive and Armstrong Avenue.

The four hour police standoff ended peacefully after the suspect gave himself up to Santa Maria police officers. Officials say that around noon a woman stabbed a man at this red house on Armstrong Avenue.

While she was caught rather quickly and the injured man was taken to the hospital.

A standoff began after police wanted to search the house for evidence, and a man inside was not letting officers inside the property.

They were in constant contact with the suspect, trying to coax him outside with a loudspeaker, even allowing a close friend of the barricaded man to speak with him as well.

Just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, the man opened the front door and walked out, where he was quickly taken in to custody. Witnesses to this afternoons events are shocked something like this would happen on their street.

Fesler Junior High School went on lockdown around 12:30 p.m. Once school let out for the day the lockdown was lifted.
