Ventura Marathon Runners Run On 911 Anniversary
Ventura Marathon runners started bright and early on the morning of 911 and the 15th anniversary of September 11th did not go unnoticed.
Cliff Walker , a firefighters from Tustin, ran in his firefighter gear with an oxygen tank and flag on his back.
Volunteers and spectators applauded his effort as he turned the corner from Harbor Boulevard to Channel Islands in Oxnard.
He was one of two firefighters to honor first-responders who lost their lives in the 911 attacks as they tried rescue people in the Twin Towers in New York City.
Other runners carried flags.
The Ventura Marathon is one of the final qualifiers for the Boston Marathon.
Runners ran from the Ventura Pier to the Port Hueneme Pier and back.
