Family Identify Two Men Killed In Gibraltar Road Crash
Veronica Esquivel remembers her brother as a completely selfless person, who was an awesome friend and a loving soul.
Over the phone, she says her brother 24-year-old David Esquivel of Santa Maria and 23-year-old Oscar Hernandez from Lompoc had been missing for days.
On Sunday, a paraglider noticed the car they were in had crashed about 500 feet off of Gibraltar Road, killing the two friends.
Santa Barbara County Officials say the license plate matched the car they were driving.
Veronica says her family was searching for her brother David for days. They say they took to social media making posts about the missing friends to see if anyone had seen them.
She says the last time anyone heard from him was last Wednesday. She says David told them a friend had invited him to go hiking in the Santa Barbara area.
Veronica says her brother worked as a line cook at the Chumash Casino.
She says he didn’t have any children but says he treated his niece and nephews as if they were his own.
Veronica says she is in the process of setting up a go fund me page for her brother.
