Cal State Channel Islands Breaks Enrollment Record

California State University Channel Islands is welcoming its largest entering class of undergraduates in history. The university will see 2,152 new students this fall.

The class includes 1,021 freshmen selected from 10,312 applicants. The incoming freshman class includes students from 433 different high schools. About 69 percent of the freshman and transfers will be the first in their family to graduate from college. Many of these students come from low-income backgrounds.

80 percent of all Cal State Channel Islands students receive some form of financial aid.

The average g.p.a of the entering freshman class is 3.2 and the average SAT score is 933 (Critical Reading & Math). The ACT average composite score is 20. 58% are Hispanic/Latino, 21% white, 5% Asian, 3% African-American.

The university offered admission to nearly 3,800 transfer students, a 38 percent increase over last year.
