Kayla Day Beaten by Madison Keys in Second Round of US Open

Kayla Day was beaten 6-1, 6-1 by #8 seeded Madison Keys in the second round of the US Open.

The match ended an incredible experience for the 16-year old Santa Barbara lefty who was the youngest competitor at the US Open on both the women’s and men’s field.

Day, who pulled off the upset over Madison Brengle during first round play, was overmatched by Keys who won the first set in just over 15 minutes.

Day played better in the second set as she rallied longer with the ninth ranked player in the world. This 48 minute match will serve as a great learning tool for Day who turns 17 late next month.
