The death occurred in Coronado last week where Luhnow and Homan had lived.

The cause of death has been listed at a heart attack.

Homan was 53. He is a retired Naval Aviator with the rank of Commander.

His services will be September 2 on the deck of the U.S.S. Midway.

Santa Barbara Patrol Commander Bill Marazita will be the acting Chief of Police while Luhnow is gone. Chief Luhnow was sworn into office in July, after a 27 year career in the San Diego Police Department. Homan was at the ceremony in Santa Barbara City Hall and pinned the chief’s badge on Luhnow.
