Operation Underground Railroad Cycling Down Central Coast

They’re using pedal power on the Central Coast to raise money to rescue kids from sex slavery and human trafficking.

Operation Underground Railroad was formed more than two years ago by men and women who served in the U.S. Government and the U.S. Military with a dedicated mission to save as many kids as they can.

Dozens of people are participating in Operation Underground Railroad’s 5-day, 430 mile charity cycle ride down the California coast from Monterey Bay to Laguna Beach.

They’ve raised more than $120,000 so far to help O.U.R.’s growing mission to fight child sex slavery and human trafficking.

“Its one of the fastest growing crime industries in the world, people are making it a priority because its happening everywhere”, says 17 year old Mark Tenney who is among those cycling down the coast to raise public awareness about O.U.R.’s mission.

“They literally go in, get in there, rescue the kids, arrest the traffickers and then they take the kids to rehabilitation centers to get them education and get them back into a normal lifestyle”, Tenney says.

The battle against sex slavery and human trafficking has become a top priority for law enforcement from the federal to the local level here on the Central Coast.

“That’s why I love what Operation Underground Railroad does”, Mark Tenney says, “they are the ones that are really taking a stand and stopping it.”

Both the Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County District Attorney offices have established task forces to fight human trafficking.
