Deadly Crash Near Ojai Kills Motorcyclist, Sends Passenger to Hospital with Major Injuries

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly motorcycle crash on state Route 150/Santa Paula Ojai Road near Chumash Road east of Ojai.

The crash was reported just after 11:30 a.m. Thursday, and it involved a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2003 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck.

The motorcycle driver, a 67-year-old Fillmore man, was taken to Ventura County Medical Center by helicopter where he was pronounced dead. His name will not be released until his family has been notified.

The motorcycle passenger, a Fillmore woman, 66 years old, was also taken to Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries. Her condition is unknown at this time.

The California Highway Patrol says a 23-year-old male driver out of Long Beach was driving his white pickup truck eastbound on Highway 150 with the motorcycle directly behind him.

When the pickup driver attempted to make a turn onto Chumash Road, the motorcycle driver, for reasons unknown, veered to the right and crashed with the right rear corner of the pickup. The impact caused both, the motorcycle driver and passenger, to be ejected and land on the roadway.

The driver of the pickup was not injured in the crash.

Anyone with information on this deadly collision is asked to call the Ventura Area CHP office at 805-477-4100.
